The mental workload is associated with the relationship between the worker and his job, where the requirement for performance capacity can trigger work overload. Ergonomics presents instruments and methods for evaluating several aspects, with greater complexity in establishing concepts, measurement, and evaluation of mental workload, which eventually discourages such an analysis process. Each instrument of assessment and measurement of mental workload has particularities, being observable the greater use of certain methods through the observation of their use in scientific publications. The present study aims to propose a framework for assessing mental workload in the form of a computational tool allowing the analysis of the results generated by the application of existing methods, where, through a systematic literature review, identified evaluation methods of mental workload with greater quantity of use in scientific publications, being selected, among these, the methods that enable the implementation of a computerized version, and that present results independent of the need for parallel evaluations of factors such as, for example, physiological indicators. The association of methods of evaluating mental workload and computational processes designed from a framework can influence the approach between specialists and methods, possibly unknown. The literature review and the results of its analysis presented NASA-TLX as the method with the highest amount of use in scientific publications from 2007 to 2017, in addition to data on the use of the SWAT method (Subjective Workload Assessment Technique) and studies about its variations, whose analysis culminated in the selection of the S-SWAT (Simplified SWAT) method to integrate the portfolio of methods implemented in the form of a computational tool. The mental workload assessment framework was proposed through the registration and compilation of the perception and validation of requirements and functionalities defined by specialists, being, in summary, the greatest ...
