Treballs Finals de Grau d'Enginyeria Informàtica, Facultat de Matemàtiques, Universitat de Barcelona, Any: 2016, Director: Àlex Pardo Fernández ; Music composition and algorithms are totally unrelated, music composition is just about inspiration and creativity. That's what many people may think, but Pythagoras set a relationship between mathematics and music. Moreover, great composers of the history as Bach, Schubert and specially Mozart, have used algorithms to compose their pieces (NORDEN, 1964). In fact, composers have always used algorithms in their own minds to follow the rules and conventions of their period. The idea of a computer carrying out this creative process is even more remote. That's precisely what this project is about. Developing an application that composes a tonal and pleasing to the ear piece, given some of their main features like the tonality, the form or the number of bars. The application has been written in the Java programming language and uses the jMusic library.
