Business rules represent essential directives that control customer operations and play a crucial role in determining business success. When developing software to support such businesses, these rules must be accurately translated into the software's functional requirements used by developers. However, traditional approaches to business rule modelling, primarily through process models like BPMN, fail to bridge the gap between business analysts and developers. This paper focuses on the modelling of constraint-type business rules, particularly those triggered by database queries. Using a case study as an example, we propose an enhanced modelling method leveraging UML diagrams, including activity and state diagrams, alongside entity-relationship models. This approach ensures comprehensive representation of data structures, application logic, and triggering events while adhering to established modelling standards. The evaluation of the proposed method demonstrates its ability to deliver clear, structured, and developer-oriented models, improving the efficiency and accuracy of software implementation.
